Warding off Mold
Clothing, paper, and furniture are the three biggest moisture magnets. Keep only what you need.
Run a dehumidifier. In the summer months, open basement windows. Avoid air drying clothes in an already damp basement.
Store firewood in a shed or garage, not in the house. Don’t carpet the basement floor.
Absorb any musty odors left by previous mold outbreaks by placing a lump of dry charcoal in an open metal container, or set out a few small bowls of vinegar.
