Should a spill happen inside your oven, sprinkle salt over the residue while the oven is still warm. (If the spill has already dried, dampen it slightly first.) Once the oven cools, gently scrape off the spill using a spatula, then clean any remaining mess with a sponge soaked in soapy water. Alternatively, you can cover the spill with vinegar and place a wet cloth on top until it loosens for easy removal.

To minimize future oven cleaning ordeals, line the bottom of your oven with aluminum foil, and replace it when spills occur.
