If a spill occurs inside your oven, sprinkle salt over the remaining mess while the oven is still warm. (Therefore, if the spill has dried, slightly dampen it first.) As the oven cools down, carefully remove the spill using a spatula, then clear any leftover mess with a soap-soaked sponge. As another option, cover the remaining mess with vinegar and then place a wet cloth over it until it becomes loose enough for convenient removal.

To minimize future oven cleaning ordeals, line the bottom of your oven with aluminum foil, and replace it when spills occur.
